What to Wear to UDA Camp

There is so much preparation that goes into making a team successful for the year and it all begins with summer camp. Camp not only helps individual dancers improve their technique, but it also encourages team bonding and aids in unifying a team. For those of you who may be new to UDA or if you just need a little reminder, we’re here to help you decide what to wear to UDA camp!

When choosing what apparel to wear to camp, matching outfits are key. This promotes unity among the team and sets the tone for the squad to move and act as one unit—as opposed to 18 individual dancers. This is also an easy way for the staff to be able to identify who belongs to which team.

As part of a spirit program, you really want to show off your school colors as proudly as you can. If your school has multiple colors, use a different color each day. For instance, if your school colors are red, white and blue, you can choose to highlight red on Day 1 of camp, white on Day 2, and blue on Day 3. Don’t forget to have your school name or the name of your dance team visible. Represent your school and be proud of where you’re from!

A crucial factor in choosing what to wear to camp is making sure it is easy to move in. Dancers need to be comfortable and have the maximum range of motion, so they can reach their full potential—not restricted due to their clothing.

Once you’ve pick out your camp clothes, it’s time to consider shoes! At UDA Camp, everyone must be wearing shoes at all times. The Strut, the new Varsity jazz shoes, are perfect for most dance styles, but UDA Camp offers a variety of dance disciplines, so consider bringing a pair of sneakers as well, like the Varsity Beat.

For a little extra detail, matching hair styles is always a fun way to add some flare to your team. Whether it’s a slicked back bun, a poof or a sassy high pony, have some fun with your hair style!
