Cheer Scholarship Details: All EKU cheer members receive scholarship money.

Dance Scholarship Details: All EKU dancers receive scholarship money.

TRYOUT INFORMATION

CHEER:

Tryout Dates: Tryouts are held in May.

Tryout Requirements:

  • Tumbling – Standing back tuck required for females (preferred for males).
  • Stunting – Toss Extension for Coed. Full Up for All Girl. 

DANCE:

Clinic & Tryout Dates: Clinics are held in March. Tryouts are held in mid-March and at the end of May. 

Tryout Requirements: 

  • Double Turn/Triple Turn
  • Turns a la seconde (3 into double)
  • Toe Touch/Herkie/Hurdler
  • Headspring/Kip Up
  • Calypso/Turning Disk/Switch Open Leaps
  • Flexibility (extensions/splits)
  • Leap Combos and Turn Combos/Dancer Creativity
  • Acro Tricks/Hip Hop Skills are welcomed but not required to make team 

MASCOT:

EKU currently has one person as their mascot.

Competition Involvement: Eastern Kentucky University competes both a Large Coed team and an All Girl team at the UCA & UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship. Both of these teams have finished as high as third in the nation. 

The EKU dance team competes at the NCA & NDA College National Championship in Daytona Beach, Florida. The dance team has finished as high as second in the nation.
