Here’s how to properly measure your athletes for Varsity Spirit Fashion garments. Scroll down for additional tips, sizing instructions, and to download the Athlete Measurement Guide.
To measure your athlete, you’ll need a measuring tape in inches and your athlete in fitted clothing.
You’ll take 6 different measurements:
Start by having your athlete face you and make a “T” motion. Measure across the fullest part of the chest.
Make sure the athlete is standing naturally without holding in his or her stomach. Measure around the natural waistline about 1 inch above the belly button.
Have the athlete stand with his or her feet together and measure across the fullest part of the hips, making sure to not let the tape slide up or down.
Make sure your athlete is wearing shoes and is standing with his or her legs shoulder-width apart. Have the athlete hold the measuring tape where the body meets the inside of the leg. Follow the measuring tape down to the desired length. Don’t forget: measure to the floor for pants, but for joggers or leggings, measure to the ankle.
Have the athlete face away from you. From the natural waistline, measure over the hips to the desired length on the back of the leg. The skirt length is determined by subtracting 1 inch from that measurement to allow for the waistband.
Take the measuring tape between your athlete’s legs, up and over one shoulder and pull tightly.
Facing the back, measure from the bone at the base of the neck down to the desired dress length. Your rep will help you choose the correct length.
For male athletes, include standard street clothes sizes for pants, shorts, and shirts
