Eight Ways Your Team Can Go Pink

Eight ways your team can be great and GO PINK this October and support Breast Cancer Awareness month:

1. Add some pink accessories to your hair! This is a great, cost efficient activity for your team to spread awareness that October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. Buy a roll of pink ribbon and have each dancer bring a hair elastic. Tie the pink bow to the hair elastic to guarantee the bow wont slip out of the dancer’s hair. Finally, tie each dancers hair in a cute up-do! Your team will look stylish while also spreading awareness at the same time.

2. Sell some pink goodies!  Looking for a way to raise money to donate to charities that support breast cancer? At school events, games, or performances have a bake sale! Each dancer can bring in a few treats to sell. Have them use pink frosting, sprinkles, and food dye! Have fun with it and find a charity to donate the money to.

3. Make signs! Make signs to hang up around your school or campus. The signs can also be hung up at games, performances, or bake sales. The posters can be lists of statistics, ways to detect or check for symptoms, how you can donate your time or money, or to simply raise awareness. This is a great team bonding activity and educational project. Pair up dancers to make a positive awareness poster together!

4. Pink Pom Poms! If your team uses pom poms at games or performances why not use pink ones? This is another way your team can show that you are all in the fight against breast cancer!

5. Create pink breast cancer awareness bows! These bows are simple to make for your team to wear or to sell! Buy pink ribbon and cut around 6 inches for every ribbon you make. Simply just create the shape of the bow and use an adhesive glue dots to keep the ribbon in the shape of the bow. You can pin these bows to your uniforms or sell them at bake sales or games!

6. Paint your campus pink!  This is such a great activity for all of your dancers to take part in! Decorate your school with everything pink! Use this to advertise a game where you will be dressed in pink and spreading awareness.

7. Walk for a cure! Looking for a healthy team bonding activity? Try to find a local walk that raises money for breast cancer research and funding. The entire team can participate in the walk. Some walks may also need volunteers or performers so look into that!

8. Post on social media! Social media can be such a positive and beneficial tool! Have your team post pictures and statuses on social media that show how much you support this fight. This will help raise breast cancer awareness not only for your school but online as well.

Sincerely,

UDA Danielle

Andrew the Elf: Taking Flight To Save Lives

Over $125,000 raised for St. Jude, and it all started with an elf.  “Your child has been diagnosed with cancer.” It is something we hear far too often these days. It could be a friend, a loved one, someone you work with or even one of your very own athletes. For me personally, I heard […]
