Want to give your old VSF tee a new look? Here’s what you’ll need:

• An old VSF tee
• Dye or Bleach
• Rubber bands
• Scissors
• Gloves
• Trash bag
• Large Ziplock bag

Step 1: Lay out your t-shirt and begin folding and twisting it according to the style you’ve chosen. We will be doing the single starburst pattern. If you want a different style, be sure to look up other patterns you can create! Place your scissors in the center of your t-shirt and begin twisting.

Step 2: Once the t-shirt is completely twisted, grab your rubber bands and begin sectioning it off into a pie shape.

Step 3: Next, you’ll want to make sure you have your gloves on and a trash bag underneath your t-shirt. Grab your dye or bleach and begin squeezing or spraying the liquid onto the shirt. If you’re using multiple colors, you’ll want to use one color per section. If you’re using bleach, you’ll want to skip sections.

Step 4: After you’re done with the dye or bleach, you’ll need to let your t-shirt sit for a few hours. If you tie-dyed your shirt, stick it in a Ziplock bag and let it sit for 6-8 hours. If you bleached your shirt, place it outside in the sunlight for about an hour.

Step 5: Once your shirts are done soaking up the dye or bleach, you’ll want to throw them in the washing machine with cold water and let them air dry!

Now let’s take it a step further and distress that cute tee you just dyed!

Step 6: We suggest starting with the collar of the shirt. You can cut a V or a deeper oval. You can also take your scissors and just cut the seam of the collar.

Step 7: Next up… the sleeves. You can cut them off completely or simply distress them. It’s up to you!

Step 8: If you’re going for a more cropped look, just cut your shirt at the desired length. We suggest anywhere between your hips and your belly button!

Step 9: This is where your creativity can really shine! Cut a few holes, fringe some areas or make larger cuts.
