When you earn a Spirit Stick, or the coveted Top Banana, it is a testament to the spirit and energy you put in each day at UCA Summer Camp. Follow these suggestions below to make sure your team gets to celebrate this exciting accomplishment!

At UCA Camp, you should always go BANANAS!

Be on time!

We all know UCA time runs five minutes early… so make sure your team is among the first back from all breaks! Pro tip: If you are staying in a hotel or dorm, account for the time it takes to get down the elevator or stairs.

Attitude is everything!

What you put into UCA Camp reflects what you will get out of it. Don’t be afraid to step outside of your comfort zone – go crazy for the class yells, dress all out for the pep rally and participate in the boogie chants. Those memories with your team will be the ones you remember years after your camp is over.

Never walk…hustle!

When UCA Staff gives a break to get water, or calls the camp back into the stage, make sure you put some pep in your step wherever you’re going. This illustrates how eager your team is to learn something new!

Appreciate your teammates and coaches.

Don’t forget to take a step back and say thank you to your coaches or “good job” to a teammate when they achieve a new skill. The bonding and memories you create at summer camp will carry you through your entire season so appreciate and celebrate the time you have together.

New material review!

What do we like to do? REVIEW! Camp is filled with cheers, sidelines, fun dances and more. With that in mind, don’t forget to get with your team and review what the UCA Staff taught you. The extra time you put in will pay off!

Act respectful!

At UCA Camp, it is important to respect the UCA Staff, VCA Staff, other teams, facilities, coaches, teammates and of course – yourself. Remember that you are an ambassador for your school and it’s important to represent your program and community in the best way, even if you think nobody is watching.

Show your school pride!

Be ready to show some spirit! Keep chanting, cheering, and having an awesome time!
