Ketcham High School Honors Former Coach With Spirited Routine

The Roy C. Ketcham High School cheerleaders from Wappingers Falls, New York, are headed to NCA High School Nationals with goal that means more than just earning a title.

About a month ago, the squad unexpectedly lost their beloved leader, Coach Jules. The loss of someone so close to their hearts was tough, but they say it’s made their spirit even stronger. The team now has a mission to honor Coach Jules throughout their performance.

“We have not given up our spirit for the sport and our school and community,” said Alisa Pcheco, Ketcham’s new coach.

To help honor Coach Jules at NCA, Ketcham incorporated some of the former coach’s favorite choreography.

“Our ending pose was a choreographed move she did many years ago,” Pacheco said. “We know she would be proud of what we have accomplished.”

The squad said their dance section is a lot of fun and their favorite to perform. They have also updated their cheer to be more crowd engaging.

“We haven't done a call-back cheer in a few years,” Pacheco added. “I think you will be surprised at how well it is executed.”

2018 will be Ketcham’s third year competing at NCA High School Nationals and this year they are switching things up and competing in the Small Intermediate Game Day Performance Division for the first time. In 2017, the talented squad finished in third in Intermediate Small Coed. You can watch their routine here.
