Networking with College Teams

-UDA Brittany

Check out these 5 ways to network with college dance teams (while at home!) to make sure you’re keeping up with your favorite dance teams!

  1. Follow them on social media!

A lot of teams are posting fun pictures and content, updating their followers on what their dancers are up to during this crazy time. By following their social media accounts, you can stay up to date with dance challenges, combinations, and news regarding their team.

  1. Dance with them!

One positive event that has come out of quarantine is the ability to dance with teams across the country from the comfort of your home. Many college teams are getting on Instagram live or zoom and teaching combinations for their followers to learn. Not only is this a fun way to get active, but by learning the combination you a chance to dance the style the team dances to most often. When you are trying and perfecting their skill challenges you will learn more about the skills the team focuses on at tryouts and throughout their season. This is also a good chance to interact with members of the team since they are usually the ones teaching it.

  1. Tag them!

After learning their dance or completing the skill or trick challenge, record it, post it, and tag the team. This gives you the opportunity to potentially be featured on their page. Also, this is a good way to start interacting with the team and start showing your name and face to the organization. Since teams have had to cancel clinics, this is a great idea if you’re planning on trying out for the team.

  1. Do Research!

After dancing with them, go back and look through their gameday or competition pictures and videos. Whether you’re a fan or wanting to try out for this team in the future, it’s always a good idea to know what activities and events they appear or dance at throughout their season. Some teams have been doing Q&A’s or tryout tips from girls on their team. You can learn a lot of information from their social media pages, so take advantage of it!

Even though the world is crazy right now, there are still ways to interact with your favorite teams, even in quarantine. If this is a team you’re interested in being a part of, by following along with their social media accounts, you’ll get an inside look into the team dynamic, leadership and dance style. If you follow these tips you can get active and get in touch with dancers and teams across the country.
