New Season, New Competition: Madison Southern

The 2018 UCA Smoky Mountain Championship is almost here, and teams are ready to take the stage for the first time this season in Sevierville, TN!

Madison Southern High School out of Berea, Kentucky, will be attending the competition this weekend in hopes to bring home two titles in the Gameday Coed and Small Varsity divisions.

This is the first year Madison Southern is attending the Smoky Mountain Championship, and they’re searching for their bid to nationals!

“Smoky Mountain is important to our team because this is our chance to earn a bid for nationals!”  -Coach Michelle Devere

The team's focus this season is set on school spirit, being clean and team bonding. The team has enjoyed teaching the new members of the team their school traditions!

“In our game day performance, we enjoy leading the crowd throughout the whole routine," said coach Devere. "Our fan favorites in our two and a half minute routine is our cheer, ‘MAD about Madison.’”

The Eagles placed fourth at the 2018 UCA National High School Cheerleading Championship in the Small Varsity Coed Game Day division, and they're beginning their journey to nationals this weekend!

Madison Southern is a fairly young team this season with only one senior and one junior, but that isn’t stopping their determination! Coach Michelle says their music includes a song about doubters and that makes them more determined to come out on top.

Last year at the 2017 Bluegrass Championship the team won the Game Day and Small Varsity divisions. Look out for this team this weekend as they kick off their 2018 season!
