Collegiate spirit squads will bring their sideline game day traditions and showcase them center stage this April at the 2021 UCA & UDA College Cheerleading and Dance Team National Championship in Orlando, Florida.

2021 marks the fourth year Game Day will take place at the UCA & UDA College National Championship, and the divisions have quickly become a fan favorite as they bring some of the nation's best game day traditions to life at the ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex.

This season, the UCA & UDA College Game Day Championship will take place in the HP Field House and the Visa Athletic Center over the course of the two-day event. Semi-Finals will begin on Tuesday and Finals for all Game Day divisions will take place on Wednesday in the Visa Athletic Center.

Teams competing in the division will take their sideline traditions to the mat to display how they lead their community and fans at their schools.

During the UCA Game Day Championship, teams will perform their traditional school's fight song, a situational sideline, and a game day timeout. The athletes are encouraged to use signs, flags, megaphones, and poms to encourage fans to cheer along.

The judges will score teams using the criteria listed on the UCA Game Day score sheet. Each team will be evaluated on a 100 point system. For more about Game Day, click here.

Fight Song

  • Should represent the traditional fight song your school has always done at games
  • Skills should be minimal and practical
  • Should start from the sideline formation

Situational Sideline

  • Situational for each team performing
  • After an offensive or defensive scenario, the squad will determine which sideline to do
  • Teams are encouraged to use spirit raising props such as signs, poms, and/or megaphones
  • Skills should be minimal and practical

Game Day Timeout

  • Similar to a 60-second extended band chant; designed for crowd interaction and involves crowd response
  • The best time to showcase the squad’s energy, leadership, visual appeal, and connection to the crowd

Each performance is limited to three minutes and should include skills that influence fan participation. Teams of up to 30 athletes will be evaluated on their ability to lead the crowd, proper game day skill incorporations, execution of skills, motion technique, and the overall routine.

The UDA Game Day Championship will consist of a Fight Song, Game Situation (offense/ defense), and a Game Day Performance Routine.

Fight Song

  • Skills and choreography should represent a traditional fight song your team performs at games.

Game Situation

  • This component of the Game Day Championship includes two elements. Teams are encouraged to use spirit-raising props such as signs and/or poms.
  • A real-life scenario where the team will react to an audio cue with an offense or defense game sideline (chant).
  • Timeout (band dance to band music) designed for crowd interaction. The timeout should be the same, regardless of what situation (offense or defense) you are given.

Performance Routine

  • A 30-second routine (can be any style) that is designed for crowd entertainment.
  • This is the best time to showcase your team’s energy and connection to the crowd.
