#UCAstaff Camp Series: Indiana University

Hi, I’m Alexis Stanley, a UCA Instructor from Kentucky. Let me share with you some of my favorite memories from UCA Camp this summer.

What’s the first thing you think of when you hear Indiana University? My answer would be the six national titles the Indiana cheer program has won. What better place to hold a UCA summer cheer camp than where the Indiana Cheerleaders work so hard to become National Champions. It was such an exciting experience to work with so many amazing teams in the same atmosphere and facility as the IU cheerleaders.

Camp at IU is jammed packed with stunt, transition and pyramid classes. It is the perfect time for teams to bond and learn new skills. In addition to stunting, the UCA Jump Off is always a favorite at Indiana University. This year, we had every single male that was at camp participate including athletes, coaches and the UCA Staff. You can only imagine the laughs we got out of this Jump Off which lead to memories that will last for years to come.

The cheerleaders at Indiana Masters were everything I expected and more. I knew I was going to be working with talented athletes, but I was shocked whenever I saw the amount of hard work and determination they put into perfecting each new skill. My littles, Charlestown High School, were no exception. During Rally Routine Evaluations, they hit a perfect performance after a tiring, yet rewarding, private coaching session. After their performance, tears started to fall because they were so proud of everything their team had accomplished in just a few days. Indiana Masters was one for the books and I can’t wait to be back!
