Hi, I’m Amy!

I started my journey with Varsity Spirit many years ago as a UDA camp staffer and Head Instructor. While on staff, I had the opportunity to be a rules & category judge for many regional and national events. I have also been an Event Director for Varsity Brands so my love for competitions and successful event days runs deep!

I currently reside in Birmingham, AL. I grew up dancing in this area and was Captain of the UAB Golden Girls during college. I have taught classes and directed the competitive and performance team at a local studio for 15 years. I have a passion for sharing education and resources to help our teams and athletes find as much success as possible (on and off the field/competition floor)!

Fun Fact: If it were allowed, I would take my dog Boomer with me everywhere I went. He is a Great Dane/Boxer mix and a certified “Good Boy”!

Hi, I'm Stephanie! I started working for Varsity Brands as a UDA Staff Instructor in 2008 and continued to be a part of UDA’s collegiate camp staff for 13 years. I grew up dancing at the age of 2 in Chicago, Illinois. I was honored to be part of the Gus Giordano Junior Competitive Company growing up. Some of my larger accomplishments include performing live on the MDA telethon featuring Jerry Lewis. I had the amazing opportunity to be a choreographer for the Macy’s Thanksgiving Parade 2013 and 2014 and London New Year’s Parade from 2012-2017. Prior to COVID, I was still traveling, teaching and judging both nationally and internationally. I have traveled across the U.S., Great Britain, Italy, Germany, Austria, Slovenia, Croatia, Mexico, Japan, Finland, Chile, Scotland, Colombia, Norway, Australia & Ecuador teaching many children of all ages/backgrounds.

Outside my State Director role, I am currently the technique/pom coach at Maine South High School and joined the coaching staff for Glenbrook South in 2018 focusing on their jazz choreography and training. I also teach at local studios in the Chicagoland area and have been for the past 10 years.

Fun Fact: I have unfortunately torn my ACL 3X and had 5 knee surgeries, but it's a unique fact. I'm also 5ft, so blend it with most high school dance team members when I visit a UDA/NDA camps. I'm known to cry during beautiful uplifting lyrical routines or behave like the mean girl's mom dancing along with sassy jazz at competitions.

Outside of dance, I LOVE to cook and bake and have friends/family over to catch up. I consider buffalo sauce and cheese a main food group. My biggest fear is bed bugs. Christmas/Fourth of July tie for my favorite holiday and if I could shop at any 3 places for the rest of my life it would be Target, Nordstrom & Lululemon. <3

Tessa Wadsworth

Hi, I’m Tessa Wadsworth and I just recently surpassed 20 years with the Varsity company! Time flies when you’re living the dream! I started out as a summer camp instructor in 2005 and then moved into the head instructor role that I completed for 17 years until this past summer. I’ve also work on the event operations team throughout the country for the last decade and continue to judge cheer and dance competitions of all ages in both the studio/all-star venue as well as the school categories. You will definitely see me in one of these capacities at many of the Varsity national competitions. I have years of coaching and choreography experience both at the studio level and in the high school setting, working with state and nationally ranked teams and companies. I grew up in Arizona, have traveled the world for the last decade with my family, just spent a year basking in the California sun while living in Hollywood, and recently grounded my feet back into Mesa Arizona for the next rooted chapter of life. Some of my favorite dance experiences have been the London New Years Day Parade, the Disney Christmas Extravaganza, the Fiesta Bowl Parade, numerous Bowl game halftime performances, Stadium of Fire in Provo Utah and The Dance Worlds!

When I’m not living in the Varsity world as a judge, head instructor, events operator and now state director, I love to travel with my husband, Zach and our 5 WHOLE KIDS! Yes, 5! It’s insanity but we love the chaos. I graduated from Arizona State University with my Bachelor’s of Science in Nursing degree but hung up my stethoscope when my husband decided to pursue medical school. So, for the last decade of his training, I’ve had the incredible opportunity to create the life I want in the dance world with the flexibility that comes from being a stay at home mom. Living in complete over-stimulated exhaustion has it’s perks J All jokes aside, that role I took on 10 years ago has immensely prepared me for even greater roles in the dance industry. An industry that requires advocacy, multi-tasking, connections and relationships, all while doing it genuinely vivaciously! I am so excited to work with you and for you!

Fun fact about me is that I am obsessed with traveling and seeing the world! I've lived in the Caribbean and Eastern Europe and have traveled to Asia, Western Europe and Africa. I have a huge bucket list item to hit all 7 continents in the next 2 years!
