Khaliya Rae Muhammad

Alabama State University

I started dancing at the age of 3 and it started off as something cute for me. I became a competitive cheerleader at the age of 6 and did cheer for 3.5 years. Around the age of 10, I focused on dance only. I still continued my use of tumbling and one of my cheer coaches became a tumbling coach at my home dance studio. I trained at Chicago Contemporary Dance Theater located in the Bridgeport Area of Chicago, which was a competitive dance team, where we’ve been titled National Grand Champion 4x in a row. We focused on all genres of dance such as Modern, Lyrical, Ballet, Contemporary, Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Pointe, African, Horton, the list continues. I’ve taken classes at Deeply Rooted Dance Theater, Chicago Multicultural Dance Company, Russel Talbert School of Dance, and A&A Ballet, where I trained in mostly Ballet, Pointe, and Contemporary. I started my first two years of college at Southern University where I had the pleasure of being a Fabulous Dancing Doll for two consecutive years. I am now attending Alabama State University where I major in Interdisciplinary Studies with a minor in Dance and Physical Education. I’ve also had the pleasure of marching with The Mighty Marching Hornets as a Sensational Stingette.
