2024 UDA Solo Showdown is HERE! 

We are excited to bring dancers together from all over the nation to showcase their skills in our Virtual UDA Solo Showdown. This solo competition will allow dancers to compete against the best of the best and perform their favorite solo routines!

Tune in on Sunday, October 20th on Varsity TV (subscription required) to see all the action! Videos will be live for viewing at 9:00 AM CST and results will be posted at 5:00 PM CST.

Cost: $70 per dancer

You must be a coach of a school team or an All-star program to register your dancers for this event. Dancers CANNOT register themselves. Registration closes on October 2nd, 2024!

Coaches can register up to 5 dancers per team to enter into this solo competition. Participants will upload 1 minute and 30-second video of themselves performing a Jazz, Contemporary/Lyrical, Pom, or Hip Hop solo! Each routine will be judged on execution, impression, and choreography.

Solo Requirements: 

  • Each dancer needs to be associated with a school or All-Star team
  • Only one solo entry per dancer
  • 1 min minimum and 1 min 30 second maximum time limit

The age of the competitor as of August 31, 2024, will be used for the UDA Solo Showdown.

  • Tiny Solo   5-7 years
  • Mini Solo   8-10 years
  • Youth Solo   11-13 years
  • Junior Solo   14-16 years
  • Senior Solo   17-18 Years
  • College – *dancers must currently be on a college dance team to compete in this division*

Uploading Your Video

 You will receive an email prior to or on October 8th with specific information on how to upload your video.

It is important that your video is submitted properly. Correct uploading of your solo performance will allow judges to critique you in the best way possible. Like a normal competition, we want this performance to be fresh and perfected! Show us your best!

  • All routines must be recorded specifically for this event. Videos from previous competitions or events will not be accepted. You will receive an email on or prior to October 8th with specific information on how to upload your video Please email abonvillain@varsity.com.

  • Videos maybe not edited or modified. (It must be recorded as directed in the upload directions).

  • Videos will not be able to be recorded prior to receiving info email on October 8th.

  • Videos will not be accepted after the upload window closes.

  • Routines can be recorded with any camera, phone, or device you choose that can capture high-quality video (Nikon, Sony, Canon, GoPro, iPhone Devices, Samsung Devices, etc.).

  • Videos MUST be filmed wide-framed, horizontal, landscape. NO VERTICAL, TALL VIDEOS.

  • Performances should not be edited.  It needs to be a single shot, and not edited from multiple takes.

  • While filming, cameras must be held still at a wide-angle. Camera movements and adjustments should be minimal. Tripods are recommended.

  • Make sure your video has good lighting and clearly showcases the dancers.

  • The music must be LOUD and clearly heard in the recording of your video. Videos must not have the music dubbed over following the recording. All music must be recorded during the performance as incidental music.   We recommend holding your speaker directly next to your phone or camera.
